Suzanna Gilbert moves silently across the grass to the tombstone of Thomas Gilbert, the latest of her descendants to die from associating with vampires. Her fingers traced the letters engraved into the stone and she read that his wife was buried here also; he and Elizabeth had perished together, leaving their two children to live with their Aunt Jenna. Suzanna had never met the woman, but she could guess that she had taken good care of the teens after seeing how healthy Elena seemed in the photo's she had gotten from the internet. Perhaps now was the right time to return.
